First Economic Empowerment Summit for Puerto Rico takes center stage on Capitol Hill

Friends of Puerto Rico will host a one-day summit to ignite economic development for the archipelago of Puerto Rico.

Washington D.C. – Friends of Puerto Rico, a non-profit organization that supports the economic development of the people of Puerto Rico, announces the Puerto Rico Economic Empowerment Summit. The premier event will showcase the investment opportunities and entrepreneurial activity of the island in cooperation with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. 

The Summit will take place on October 18 at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, DC. It will showcase Puerto Rico's economic development, entrepreneurship, and female leadership with distinguished speakers, panelists, and industry experts.

An agenda focused on Puerto Rico’s federal priorities

The agenda promises to be enlightening, engaging, and impactful. The "Empowering Futures" panel delves into crucial aspects of local wealth creation, with a focus on youth and women entrepreneurship, accessing capital and federal resources, and connecting local businesses to national and global markets. Speakers include Mark Madrid, Associate Administrator of the Small Business Administration, and Minerva Serrano of Activus Connect.

The "Puerto Rico Prosperity Unveiled" panel is designed to unveil the allure of investing in Puerto Rico. Gain valuable insights into the current economic trends and indicators, as well as the key sectors propelling Puerto Rico's growth. Discover the government initiatives crafted to attract and support investors and learn from successful investment stories that showcase Puerto Rico's economic potential. Ella Woger of Invest Puerto Rico, William Ramos from the Economic Development Administration, James Connor, CEO of Acrecent Financial Corporation, and Luis Davila, Executive Director of PRFAA, will lead the conversation.

The "Breaking Barriers" panel is an inspiring and insightful discussion that shines a spotlight on the exceptional women driving Puerto Rico's economic growth. From navigating challenges to seizing opportunities, our panelists will share their experiences, strategies, and visions for the future. Laura Om, from OM Studio, and Denisse Rodriguez, Executive Director Colmena 66, will celebrate the transformative power of women in Puerto Rico's economic resurgence.

The event will conclude with a reception by Rums of Puerto Rico, sponsored by Fordham University, with live music.
