About SEEDS

SEEDS is a STEAM-based entrepreneurship education program for youth in Puerto Rico. Utilizing coffee, one of Puerto Rico’s most important and delicious resources, our year-long curriculum (prepared by the award-winning team at The Biz Nation) teaches public school children how to run an agri-business from the ground up. SEEDS allows students to tackle real-world business problems and engage in a mentorship program with leaders in business from on and off the island.

In August 2020, the first harvest yielded fruit, graduating 83 entrepreneurs who launched 25 businesses with an ecological, self-sustaining approach ranging from artistic and culinary area to the manufacture of massive products.

The incredible journey of knowledge began in August of 2019. We launched the first cohort of students aged 9+, to become entrepreneurs in the new Puerto Rico economy. For this first year, 80+ students from 5 Puerto Rican schools (listed below), launched 25 businesses, impacting their families, their future schooling and careers, and their future earning potential.

As part of the program launch, two SEEDS students traveled to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City from Puerto Rico, to present Café Ama to thousands of international leaders and entrepreneurs. Watch this video to learn more:

Shortly after launching SEEDS, students from the program visited a coffee farm to learn more about the production process they are helping to support. They were also in 15 interviews talking about their companies and products.

“The SEEDS project has already sown seeds of prosperity and a new economy in our communities in Puerto Rico, let’s move on to the next project”.

Feel the emotion that we lived. On August 6th, after earthquakes, hurricanes, and COVID-19, we had a virtual but meaningful ceremony with special guests like Carlos Delgado, professional baseball player, Ada Monzón, a journalist from Puerto Rico, and our partners Southwest Airlines and Activus Connect.

Watch the video bellow and read our blog about this lovely day.
