Job Location

Title: Intern/Trainee.

Location: Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Conduct outreach in targeted business corridors.

  • Assist small business clients in determining and supporting their technical assistance needs.

  • Capture client information through intake forms, maintain accurate client records through data entry and work with the Program Manager to track progress on goals.

  • Provide one on one technical assistance to aspiring and existing small businesses to help improve their core business skills.

  • Plan and develop group training sessions that provide small business owners with the tools and skills needed to be successful.

  • Recruit and manage expert consultants that can provide in-depth assistance to small business owners.

  • Conduct ongoing research about business tools and resources, news that might affect the entrepreneurial ecosystem, business licensing, and small business development opportunities.

  • Connect clients with other FOPR services and available resources from FOPR partners.

  • Generate and manage external consultant engagements.

  • Promote the organization’s services in different platforms, forums, and events as needed.

  • Support Program Manager in the planning and execution of programs.

  • Collaborate with Program Manager in the programmatic planning and execution of strategy.

  • Identify key problems that clients are unaware their business is facing.

Job Specifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/studies in business management or finances.

  • Fluency in Spanish and English.

  • Strong business instincts and ambition to grow and learn.

  • Practiced written and verbal communication skills.

  • Powerful work ethic and personal drive.

  • Ability to resolve conflicts in a collaborative setting.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks to stay on top of work.

  • Impeccable attention to details.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience running a small business (desirable - not limiting).

  • Experience providing small business technical assistance and/or training (desirable - not limiting).

  • Knowledge of basic business accounting (desirable - not limiting).

  • Understanding of small business development as a tool for community-based economic development
