Honoring Leadership and Legacy: Angelique Sina Recognized at the Felisa Rincón de Gautier Award
At Friends of Puerto Rico, our work is grounded in impact, leadership, and long-term commitment to Puerto Rico’s development. This vision was recently reflected in the recognition of our Founder and President, Angelique Sina, at the prestigious Felisa Rincón de Gautier Award—an honor that celebrates individuals whose contributions embody the enduring legacy of one of Puerto Rico’s most influential leaders.
This year, Angelique Sina was honored alongside cultural icon Iris Chacón, both recognized for their outstanding contributions to Puerto Rican society.
The Felisa Rincón de Gautier Award represents more than recognition—it reflects a legacy of service, vision, and transformative leadership. Known as “Doña Fela,” Felisa Rincón de Gautier was the first woman elected mayor of San Juan and a pioneer whose work helped shape public service in Puerto Rico. To be recognized in her name is to be associated with meaningful and lasting contributions.
For Angelique Sina, this recognition underscores years of dedicated work creating access to economic opportunity, education, and sustainable initiatives across Puerto Rico. Through her leadership at Friends of Puerto Rico and its programs—including SEEDS, RESPOND, and Café Ama Love—she has contributed to strengthening communities, supporting small businesses, and expanding opportunities for youth. Most recently, this vision continues through Brew a Better Puerto Rico, a Café Ama Love initiative that connects Puerto Rican coffee with purpose—supporting local agriculture while creating pathways for long-term community development.
Her approach goes beyond individual programs—it focuses on building long-term pathways for growth, collaboration, and innovation. From local initiatives to national engagements, her work continues to connect Puerto Rico with broader networks and resources.
Alongside her, Iris Chacón’s recognition highlights a legacy of cultural influence, artistic excellence, and national identity. Together, these honorees reflect leadership across distinct but equally important areas—community development and cultural impact—both essential to Puerto Rico’s present and future.
This recognition is not only a celebration of individual achievement, but also a reminder of the importance of sustained work, vision, and commitment. It reinforces the value of continuing to invest in initiatives that contribute to Puerto Rico’s growth and resilience.
At Friends of Puerto Rico, we remain focused on advancing initiatives that create opportunities, strengthen communities, and carry forward the legacy of leaders like Felisa Rincón de Gautier.
