Ana-Mita Betancourt is an international development attorney and executive with more than 30 years’ experience with sustainable development projects, policies and programs in emerging markets across the world, gained at leading international organizations, the United States government, and the private sector. Her expertise includes mobilizing private investments and mitigating risks in emerging markets, closing complex international project financings, addressing environmental and social complaints from project-affected communities, and managing the legal aspects of international financial institutions.
Ms. Betancourt served as General Counsel at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) of the World Bank Group and as Deputy General Counsel at the Inter-American Development Bank. She also worked at a private infrastructure investment firm, served as the Associate General Counsel for Finance at the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation, and practiced corporate law with private law firms. She has taught at the Georgetown University Law Center.
Ms. Betancourt was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She graduated from Stanford Law School and Georgetown University.
