Capitol Hill Summit 2026: Where Conversations Become Collaboration
On September 29, 2026, in conjunction with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Friends of Puerto Rico brought together leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, community partners, and advocates at the Capitol Hill Summit 2026 in Washington, D.C., for a day centered on Policy, Partnership & Opportunity.
Held at the Rayburn House Office Building, the Summit created space for meaningful conversations about Puerto Rico’s future and the opportunities that can emerge when people and organizations come together with a shared commitment to the Island.
From economic development and entrepreneurship to youth leadership, education, and cultural exchange, the day highlighted the many voices contributing to Puerto Rico’s continued growth.
From Conversations to Collaboration
A defining moment of the Summit was the formalization of a new partnership between Friends of Puerto Rico and Centro Unido de Detallistas (CUD) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The agreement represents a commitment to continued collaboration and to creating new pathways of opportunity for Puerto Rico’s business community.
While an unexpected pause briefly interrupted the program, it did not interrupt the purpose of the day. Conversations continued, connections remained strong, and the spirit of collaboration carried forward.
Because meaningful progress does not stop when plans change. It continues through the people who choose to keep moving the conversation forward.
Exploring Puerto Rico’s Economic Future
The Summit also brought together leaders from the private sector, government, and business community for conversations focused on Puerto Rico’s economic outlook.
The panel, “Puerto Rico’s Economic Outlook: Growth, Capital & Overcoming Challenges,” explored opportunities and challenges related to market access, procurement, infrastructure, and capital—key areas that shape the ability of businesses and communities to grow.
These conversations reinforced the importance of connecting Puerto Rican businesses with resources, networks, and opportunities that can support sustainable economic development.
Investing in the Next Generation
Our SEEDS youth entrepreneurs and mentors brought a special energy to Capitol Hill, sharing their experiences and reminding us why investing in young people matters.
Through their stories and entrepreneurial journeys, they offered a glimpse into the potential of Puerto Rico’s next generation of leaders and business owners.
Their presence was a powerful reminder that creating opportunity today means helping young people build the skills, confidence, and vision to shape what comes next.
Celebrating Puerto Rican Culture
The Summit was also a celebration of Puerto Rican culture.
Guests experienced a live cuatro performance by students from the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance of Chicago, bringing music and cultural connection into a day focused on Puerto Rico’s future.
It was a meaningful reflection of the role culture plays in connecting communities and carrying Puerto Rican identity and traditions forward.
With Gratitude
A special thank you to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the Office of Congressman Ritchie Torres, and Congressman Pablo José Hernández, as well as our speakers, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and attendees, for making the Capitol Hill Summit 2026 possible.
Thank you for showing up, sharing your ideas, building connections, and being part of a day dedicated to creating greater opportunity for Puerto Rico.
Together, we continue turning conversations into collaboration and opportunity into impact.
