Friends of Puerto Rico, a non-profit organization dedicated to the economic and sustainable development of Puerto Rico, is thrilled to announce that it has been named one of fifty-two recipients of the 2024 Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Awards program. This prestigious recognition comes with a transformative grant that will significantly amplify the organization's efforts to empower women, girls, and youth in Puerto Rico.
Chick-fil-A supports Entrepreneurship
On the 10th anniversary of the program -created to honor the legacy of Chick-fil-A's founder, S. Truett Cathy- the company awarded more than $5 million in grants across 41 U.S. cities and also worldwide.
Friends of Puerto Rico was one of the two Puerto Rican non-profit winners. The organization received $75,000 to provide scholarships to women entrepreneurs and the SEEDS youth entrepreneurship program, which prepares students through financial literacy and business readiness.
More than half of Puerto Rican children come from homes with no stable employment. An alarming 84% of Puerto Rican youth live in poverty. The True Inspirations Awards grant will give Friends of Puerto Rico the means to extend SEEDS to more at-risk youth in 2024.
The organization has been a beacon of hope since 2015, working tirelessly alongside local communities, sponsors, and partners to empower entrepreneurs across Puerto Rico. The organization's comprehensive approach focuses on three key areas: education, economic development, and sustainability.

"With the support, we can reach even more families and communities, empowering them and preparing them to launch their dream into a small business. We are happy to have the owner and operator of Chick-fil-A in Puerto Rico, Xiomara González-López. She is a role model to girls and many women business owners in our programs."
